How can there be an update to the Essential phone if it is not available on Virgin Mobile?

There is an unlocked version which can be activated on Virgin.  We have Virgin customers with the Essential.

But isn't it only iPhones that can be brought over unlocked? Or is the Essential phone the only one that works unlocked with Virgin?

No, you can bring over a number of unlocked phones over.  Just go here and punch in the IMEI and it will tell you if you can bring it over or not.

Is there any chance that an Unlocked Moto Z2 Force for Sprint works on Virgin Mobile? I haven't bought the phone yet, so I can't get the IMEI to plug it into the website.

Yes, it will be good to go.  I just put in an IMEI from one of our phones...
