The sim card has locked

I have a Samsung j7 which has worked without issue for 2 years. On Monday, started receiving "The SIM card has locked. Please cycle the device and if the problem persists contact customer service." message. Tried cycling the device but the message will appear again in a few minutes. Would someone here be able to help me please?
