cant activate LG Tribute HD

I just got a new cell and tried to activate it for 2 days between my work hrs.

when I typed in my MEID (DEC)  I got an Error, saying it couldn't find my cell serial number.  I need help!

 

customer service is hard to reach and I am displeased with virgin mobile.

 

would like to return phone before I get stuck with a phone I cant use but there was no return label in the box I received it in. some help would be appreciated.
