Unable to activate

I ordered a new sim card from Virgin, and I am following the instructions to activate. However, the activation system is asking me to either enter my six-digit PIN or my date of birth. I don't have a PIN, as I don't have an account yet. And when I enter my date of birth, it tells me that the response I entered is not recognized.

Hi there schmiddj. Let us take a look. Please send us a Private Message by clicking on my user name and the right side of the pane you will see the option to send a private message. Include your IMEI/DEC and the SIM card number.
