buying a phone

I bought a phone before with Virgin using my balance to pay for it.  I was wondering if I can still do this as my phone balance is more than $300.

I believe it depends what device. It should tell you at checkout if you can use the account balance for payment.

I suggest the LG Stylo 2 ^_^

Re: buying a phone

Hey, I'm wondering if you were able to find out how to use  your balance to buy a phone. My family has multiple accounts with virgin mobile with a high balance. I couldn't find the option to use cash balance with any of them with any phone.

Re: buying a phone

I contacted VM, and here is their response:

Our system is currently being updated and purchasing a device via the
website with account balance is not possible. In order to purchase a
device with your account balance you must contact a live representative
or provide us with the following information so that we may order the
handset for you.

* Full name
* Physical address
* Phone model to be purchased.
* Authorization to charge the balance.

They also need your PIN or answer to your security question.

Hi I called Virgin today and yes you can buy phones with money on your account. I am Xmas shopping early.  Have fun.

Re: buying a phone

I was just told I could apply the cash balance to a new phone/different plan, but could NOT use it to purchase a phone.   I'm not sure if that's inaccurate, or if the policy has changed recently.

Thank you for contacting us regarding your phone upgrade, I am happy to
assist. If you have two accounts, you can transfer the balance to one account if
you meet the requirements. Keep in mind that you cannot purchase an
iPhone with the cash balance. Once you purchase your locked Virgin
Mobile phone, you will be able to activate it in which ever account you
are keeping. The phone can be unlocked after being activated for one
year.
