HELP! “Invalid SIM”

I just received a new iPhone in the mail with an “unlocked” carrier. So I transferred my old SIM card over and for about 60 seconds everything moved over including recognizing my phone number and the fact that I was a virgin mobile member. However I still could not receive or make phone calls. Then after that first minute, I got a phone error that popped up saying the SIM was “locked” and now it just says “invalid SIM” in the top left corner. This is extremely frustrating and it’s been about 24 hours now and I still haven’t received an email back from customer support. Hopefully reaching out here will work quicker. Thanks.
