IPhone 7 activation help

I would like to upgrade from an iPhone 5S to an iPhone 7, but I am not able to complete the process online.  I am able to successfully enter the IMEI of the new phone on the Virgin Mobile activation page, but when entering the ICCID on the next page, I get an error message that the number is already in use (which, in fact, it is, by me!).  Am I going to need to get a new SIM card?  Any help is appreciated.
