activation issues with replaced phone

Hi there. At Apple retail store (in San Jose, Ca, where I live) my iPhone X was repaired and eventually replaced on Thursday, Nov 15, 2018. My old, active Virgin Mobile USA SIM card was inserted from the old phone into the new phone by Apple store employee. But my new phone doesn't recognize the SIM card; says, SIM card has locked? And: SIM card error.
