iPhone BYOD - IMEI not recognized

I received a SIM card in the mail today, but when going to activate it by entering my IMEI number on the website I get an error message: "OOPS

I am switching over the Virgin Mobile from Verizon. My phone said it was compatible because it is unlocked however when i type my IMEI or MEID into the activation page it says there is an error. i have tried to call customer service but that was no help. Someone help please!!!

it is an Apple iPhone 8 Plus

This is also happening to me and I have talked to both Virgin Mobile and Apple customer support. Very frustrating and I'm considering just canceling my service altogether and switching to another carrier.
